Absolutely stunning! What a wonderful gem in the middle of nowhere! Pennsylvania's best kept secret for nature lovers, featuring well-maintained hiking /cross-country ski trails, an interactive exhibit hall, bird-feeding observation area, maple-sugaring in winter, kayaking/boating, a fossil pit, 2 large lily-padded frog ponds, etc, etc!!!! Did I mention more-than-enough picnicking tables/pavilions/parking/ scenis vistas, etc, etc!!!! IMPRESSIVE!
Wow! We only had a short time to spend at the preserve, so we only visited the fossil pit. Armed with only a trowel, I found about 20 fossils in 45 minutes! Excellent site! We went after dinner so it was cooler and we had the place to ourselves. If I find myself near Montour Preserve in the future I am definitely coming back!
It's a great place to go for a walk in nature, and to fish. Unfortunately, Talon Energy won't take care of it, but instead forces the MARC to raise funds yearly to keep it maintained.
This place is a part of the history of our region. The lake is beautiful and great to kayak or canoe on. The trails are well maintained and usually not crowded. There are plenty of pavilions and picnic tables to eat at too. A great place to bring the kids!
Awesome awesome place... Lots of trails to explore, nice and quiet place... Clean and serene... Not to mention The Fossil Pit where you can find your own fossil in this Devonian Shallow ocean floor
